"When He had Opened the Seventh Seal"

(Back to Tokyo...; click to enlarge; photos taken by EEE Reporter)

Seven Buildings in WTC or Seven Terror Acts

The above bottommost is a picture of the skyscraper zone at west Shinjuku in Tokyo.

The tall, whitish building on the left hand side looks triangle in an overhead view.

In the middle of 1970's, before this building was completed and made commercially open, I happened to visit it to observe how a new type of tall buildings was constructed in Tokyo.

At the time there were not many skyscrapers around it; even the new and tall Tokyo Prefecture Office Building was not under construction.

However, I found its office space not heavily equipped and furnished, so that everything looked light and simple at a floor near 200 meter-high or so.

I think I also saw a U.S. movie around that time which featured the WTC Towers in New York under construction.

Anyway, all the seven buildings in the World Trade Center of New York have gone while the whitish triangle building remains in Tokyo since September 2001...

Indeed, I might have died, being involved in any plane accident like the one around Tokyo in 1985 (killing 520 people) or east/west of African coast lines in 2009 (with an airbus each), or otherwise in terror attacks like the one in Tokyo in 1995 (with a sarin gas), in New York in 2001, or in London in 2005...

For you reference:
AlQaeda-related terror acts
(i) 1993 - World Trade Center bombing
(ii) 1996 - Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia
(iii) 1998 - U.S. Embassy bombings in east Africa
(iv) 2000 - Suicide boat bombing to USS Cole in Yemen
(v) 2001 - September 11 attacks
(vi) 2004 – March 11 Madrid train bombings
(vii) 2005 - 7 July London bombings

I hope that there will be no more acts of terror, since the Great Financial Crisis started on Wall Street on September 15, 2008.

Rev 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

Rev 8:2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

Rev 8:3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

Rev 8:4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

Imperial Authority Moved from China to Japan 1300 Years Ago

Though China became the largest U.S. Treasury-bond holder last year getting heavily focused on by the Western media, it was 1350 years ago that Japan and China collided militarily for the first time, resulting in a great change in the Japanese imperial regime.

SECTION I: Emperor Gaozong of Tang of China

Emperor Gaozong of Tang (628-683) seems to have a significant influence on Japan and Islam.

It is so, since he once called himself "Tien-hui" (in Chinese) or "Ten-noh" (in a Japanese sound to the same kanji-letters) rather than traditional "Hui-dai" (in Chinese) or "Kou-tei" (ditto) to imply himself as emperor.

He is also the first Chinese emperor who allowed for building of an Islamic mosque in China, specifically in Guangzhou.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_Gaozong_of_Tang#References_in_Islamic_sources

SECTION II: Empress Wu Zetian (武則天 or 則天武后) (625 - 705)

Empress Wu Zetian is the only female imperial monarch in the Chinese history, meaning that she acted as a female emperor after death of her husband Emperor Gaozong of Tang.

There are some interesting reports about her posture to Japan:
(1) She sent a pair of pandas to the imperial court of Japan in 685 as the first diplomatic practice of using pandas as a symbol of international peace.

(2) She accepted the change of the name of Japan from "Wa" to "Nippon (Japan)" when an official envoy visited her court in Chang'an in 702. Empress Wu Zetian specifically extended favors to the envoy from Japan that had been defeated by China in a great war on the Korean Peninsula in 663.

(Ancient Chinese of 2000 years ago or earlier called Japan "Wa" for some reasons.)

When her husband Emperor Gaozong died, she officially gave him an honorable title "Ten-noh Ten-tei (in a Japanese sound to the Chinese letters)" meaning the Holy and Heavenly Emperor.

And, it was around this period that the Japanese monarch (or the Great King of "Wa") started to call himself "Ten-noh (using the corresponding Chinese- or kanji-lettes)" meaning an emperor.

Specifically, Emperor Ten-Mu of Japan whose reign was between 673 and 686 is believed to have called himself "Ten-noh" as the first instance of the imperial history.

Even today, an emperor of Japan is called "Ten-noh" in Japanese; the nation of Japan is called "Nihon/Nippon" in Japanese.

Accordingly, the source of authority for introduction of the titles "Nippon" (Japan) and "Ten-Noh" (Japan's Emperor) can be Empress Wu Zetian who governed China around 700 rather cruelly according to historical evidences.

SECTION III: Origin of "Nippon/Nihon" (Japan) and "Ten-Noh" (Japan's Emperor)

Hence, my theory is that after the war between "Wa (Japan)" and "Tang (China)" in 663, both the countries tried to re-establish peace between them. Especially as Emperor Gaozong died in 683 and Empress Wu Zetian presented a pair of pandas to Japan in 685, the then Japanese monarch "Ten-Mu" responded around 686 to China's good wish by adopting for himself a new title "Ten-noh," a rare title for a Chinese emperor but once used by the then deceased Emperor Gaozong for some time, thus rejoicing Empress Wu Zetian.

Accordingly, in 702 the Empress accepted the change in the name of Japan from "Wa" to "Nippon" which must have been already used by some Koreans to mean Japan who had fought against China in a tie up with Japan in the war of 663, since "Nippon" is more graceful than "Wa" and ancient Koreans must have known such meanings of kanji-letters more than most of ancient Japanese. "Nippon" means the root of a legendary holy tree (for ancient Chinese) where the sun rises, while "Wa" means people gentle and small.

This may be the first decisive theory on identification of the source of authority on Japan and Japan's Emperor in an academic term.

*** *** *** ***

Today, China is governed by the Chinese Communist Party.

There is nothing spiritually and morally imperial in China and Chinese minds of today, since they are being educated in line with philosophy imported from Europe (though they look still materially imperial).

Authority and spirits of ancient Chinese Empires are only alive in Japan of today.

Though some Europeans and Americans have a romantic dream that they can find something historically imperial in China of today, it can be only found in Japan.

It is so, since it was 1615 that the last Chinese Empire of the Han tribe was terminated; and it was 1912 that the last Chinese Empire established by a non-Han tribe on the Chinese continent was terminated.

(Han Chinese is the major tribe in the Chinese race.)

Japan of today is the only authentic successor of the ancient Chinese Imperial culture.

(Nonetheless it is not so honorable for Japan to openly admit that Japan owed its imperial authenticity to one cruel Chinese Empress who was also the only female, imperial monarch in the Chinese history, though some miracle must have happened around her in 683 or so. Accordingly, everything about this issue was left in historical ambiguity on purpose...and thus nobody in Japan today knows who in what context adopted the name of Japan and the appellation of Japan's Emperor 1300 years ago...)

That is all for today, Sirs.

"For I am from Him"

(Yesterday around the Holy River Flowing to the Tokyo Bay)

Wall Street, Islam, and Japan Never Gone with Wind

And the wind never looks back (in my humble observation).

SECTION I: Goldman Sachs and its Software

One example on how computer software is manipulated to make money on Wall Street:
-----
Published: Friday, 24 Jul 2009 | 8:54 AM ET Text Size By: Charles Duhigg
The New York Times

Traders Profit With Computers Set at High Speed
...
The slower traders began issuing buy orders. But rather than being shown to all potential sellers at the same time, some of those orders were most likely routed to a collection of high-frequency traders for just 30 milliseconds — 0.03 seconds — in what are known as flash orders. While markets are supposed to ensure transparency by showing orders to everyone simultaneously, a loophole in regulations allows marketplaces like Nasdaq to show traders some orders ahead of everyone else in exchange for a fee.

In less than half a second, high-frequency traders gained a valuable insight: the hunger for Broadcom was growing. Their computers began buying up Broadcom [BRCM 27.73 -0.31 (-1.11%) ]shares and then reselling them to the slower investors at higher prices. The overall price of Broadcom began to rise.

Soon, thousands of orders began flooding the markets as high-frequency software went into high gear. Automatic programs began issuing and canceling tiny orders within milliseconds to determine how much the slower traders were willing to pay. The high-frequency computers quickly determined that some investors’ upper limit was $26.40. The price shot to $26.39, and high-frequency programs began offering to sell hundreds of thousands of shares...

However, this is a tiny and easy-to-understand fraction of manipulations of computer software designed to collect dollars as much as possible from an innocent market to specific accounts in Wall Street companies.

SECTION II: Worse than Guantanamo

The Bush Administration virtually allowed for harsh interrogations of terrorist suspects in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Guantanamo base, and some other places in the world.

American soldiers and officers treated savagely hundreds of Islamic terrorist suspects against international treaties.

But, while the U.S. and China were holding talks in Washington D.C., thousands of Muslims in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region were being arrested illegally and executed lawlessly by Chinese troops, according to some reliable sources.

The Obama Administration virtually allowed for this massacre of Muslims by financially shaking hands with China, which is worse than Bush Administration's treatment of Muslims.

The Obama Administration must request China to submit a detailed report on how many innocent Islamic Uygurs were killed by Chinese troops.

Otherwise, the tension between Islamic nations and the U.S./China/Isreal-anti-Islam coalition might be intensified.

SECTION III: Since 700

It is in the late 7th century that Islam was established.

It is also around the late 7th century that the concepts of the nation Japan and the Japanese Emperor were established.

In this respect I as a Japanese can measure the length of history of the religious civilization Islam in comparison with the length of history of the nation Japan.

Yet, it would be useful to present a difference in Japanese expression of the word "Emperor" between a Japanese emperor and an emperor of other empire.

Yet, there is a big difference between Japan and Islam.

To our surprise, it is very ambiguous why a monarch of Japan adopted the title emperor or "Ten-Noh" around 700.

No authentic documents and explanations on this subject are left in history. Even no oral reporting is found.

What's more, it is also very ambiguous why a Japanese emperor and noble people adopted Japan "Nihon/Nippon" as the name of their country around 700.

("Japan" is one of ancient Chinese sounds to the kanji-letter expression of Japan "Nippon.")

Unlike Islam, the nation Japan seems to be founded on very ambiguous authority.

"Go Thy Way"

(Around Tokyo on the Kanto Plain...)

God, Death, Life, Happiness, and Unhappiness

There is one thing very important about Jesus Christ no Popes have ever seriously talked about.

Jesus Christ could easily see what a person before Him was thinking about and he was doing.

Jesus Christ could easily see what a person standing before Him had done before.

Jesus Christ could easily see what a person speaking before Him would do in the next moment or in future.

This ability is called "intelligence."

The first and last thing you need to win in any war or economic competition is this ability.

However, what you have to think about in winning a war and love are respectively very different, which is why the most excellent military strategist cannot win the best woman as his wife sometimes...

*** *** *** ***

What Jesus Christ said is that if you are happy, you must help unhappy people unconditionally.

This is very simple discipline.

But, no countries in this world have a provision in their constitution that a happy person shall help unhappy person unconditionally.

Yet, if all the countries in this world have a provision in their constitution that a happy person shall help unhappy person unconditionally, this world would become a kind of Paradise.

It is so, since what Jesus Christ said is that if you are happy, you must help unhappy people unconditionally. And you cannot stay in a state of happiness, if you help unhappy people in earnest, since there are so many unhappy people. Especially an unhappy person surely feels happy to see a happy person get unhappy trying to help him in a desperate state. Indeed there is an unhappy person whose best wish is just die peacefully even if in the middle of desperation in the world.

Accordingly, Jesus Christ said that happy people do not need the God, which can be interpreted as that happy people shall not enter Heaven.

Therefore if you are afraid of your death and an eternal disappearance of your soul while you are living a happy life, you must make other unhappy people happy so as to be saved yourself.

According to a Gallup survey conducted in 2008:
-----
Quantifying the average Happiness-Stress Index by day of the week also reveals a typical uptick in feelings of enjoyment/happiness over the weekend, with the percentage of Americans who are experiencing enjoyment/happiness increasing from 45% on weekdays to 57% on weekends.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/107692/Social-Time-Crucial-Daily-Emotional-WellBeing.aspx

It is astonishing to see that roughly 50% of Americans feel happy and only 10% feel unhappy in everyday life (as of 2008).

*** *** *** ***

According to a science report published in early 2009:
-----
'Happiness Gap' In The US Narrows
ScienceDaily (Jan. 28, 2009)

...
"Americans are becoming more similar to each other in terms of reported happiness," says Stevenson. "It's an interesting finding because other research shows increasing gaps in income, consumption and leisure time."

The happiness gap between whites and non-whites has narrowed by two-thirds, the study found. Non-whites report being significantly happier than they were in the early 1970s, while whites are slightly less happy. The happiness gap between men and women closed as well. Women have become less happy, while men are a little more cheerful.
...
The proportion of people choosing "pretty happy" has increased from 49 percent in 1972 to 56 percent in 2006. Responses of "very happy" and "not too happy" decreased in relatively equal amounts. This convergence toward the middle response closed happiness gaps in nearly all the demographic groups examined.

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090126121352.htm
-----

It is astonishing to see that a majority of Americans feel that they are as happy as others in everyday life.

*** *** *** ***

So, if 200 million Americans eat beefsteak everyday while 100 million Americans cannot any day, no revolution will happen in the U.S., since only 30 million Americans feel unhappy.

And, those who live on $2 per day account for 50% of all the population of mankind.

Consequently, you cannot expect the U.S. to make unhappy people in the world happy.

Conversely, as 50% of mankind live on $2 per day, 50% of Americans feel happy everyday.

Can you still love to be a happy American or love a happy American?

*** *** *** ***

Nonetheless, more astonishing is a result of a 2008's survey conducted by a conservative newspaper, The Yomiuri Shimbun Newspaper, in Japan, indicating that those who feel happy account for 88% and those unhappy 10% of all the Japanese respondents....probably due to the Japanese spiritualism...

"Least in the Kingdom of God "

(On the Kanto Plain and Around Tokyo...)

Local Elements of Economy

President Mr. Obama said, "The U.S.-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world."

Chairman Mr. Ben Bernanke said, "The effect of the global financial crisis has on an individual is enormous, I understand well..."

The common key word here is "accuracy of data."

Since 2500 years ago, Chinese politicians and generals took a strategy to announce a 10 times larger or smaller number for any critical matter so as to beguile an enemy into taking a wrong strategy.

So, President Mr. Barack Obama and Secretary Mrs. Clinton should always refer to American experts in a related field when dealing with Chinese politicians and generals.

But, as for FRB, I suppose Mr. Greenspan must know better than Mr. Bernanke the limit of accuracy of data sent up to FRB. If there are tricks in those financial data, the FRB chairman cannot feel assured about his comprehension of situations, no matter how hard he might work in office late in the night.

SECTION I: One Important Secret b/w Japan, Korea, and China

There is a big gap between the Japanese written language and that of Chinese and Korean.

And, Korean and Chinese are more suitable for handling in computers, one of fundamental elements of economy today.

It is not so difficult to express and handle Chinese and Korean in the computer, since they have only one alphabet system of their own, Chinese ideograms (Knaji) and Hangul, respectively.

They are a kind of two-byte (16 bits) alphabet sets while English uses only one-byte (8 bits) alphabet set.

Yet, Chinese and Korean use only one system of their alphabet set, respectively.

But, the Japanese written language has three systems: Kanji, Hirakana, and Katakana.
And they are used together, being properly mingled in one sentence with English alphabet characters if needed.

What makes Japanese more difficult to do in this context is writing computer codes for creating a program to run on a computer.

Especially, as Chinese is closer to English than Japanese or Korea is, it is not so difficult for Chinese to learn how to write computer codes using a subset of English.

Though the Korean language is rather closer to Japanese than to Chinese, they can apply their written language more easily to computer codes using a subset of English, since both Korean and English have only one system of alphabets.

So, the barrier for Japanese people is higher than others when mastering a computer-programming skill and handling Japanese writing in a computer system.

It is just like a specific condition imposed that a car in Japan must have 10 gear-shifting levels instead of four or five, which would extremely difficult to learn how to drive or manufacture those cars.

As today's economy is based on computer software, Japanese are requested to consume enormous energy to conquer this cultural barrier in the computer technology and utilize application programs effectively, though no proud Japanese engineers complain about it.

So, there is a great handicap for Japan to lead the world in economy and technology today, all simply due to uniqueness of its language.

Though no economists have ever argued this matter, the loss of efficiency of economic activities in the Japanese society is huge especially observed in its competition with Wall Street and City.

So, at least, Americans and Europeans must know that their written expressions look completely different to one another between Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese.

It is just like America, Canada, and Europe use three different alphabet systems, one for each.

And, as today's economy is based on computer software, this language difference has been grave for Japan since 1960's, though no economists have ever raised it.

SECTION II: Computer Software

I suspect that Japanese economists even today do not know that computer codes are mostly written in English or a sub-set of English even if in Japan.

I once, or decades ago, actually wrote a computer program in FORTRAN which were punched into big paper cards.

One instruction line needed one card. So, "get data from address 100 (Y = X)," "put it into the accumulator A (Y = Y + Y)," and "shift it to an upper digit once (Y = 2*Y)" needed three handful cards.

I brought hundreds of these cards to an air-conditioned machine room in a factory managed by Hitachi around Tokyo, thus waiting for hours till my turn for execution of the program came.

It was the same way as I had done a few years before in a university; and I thought this method would be normal forever, which was a wrong estimation.

Indeed a few years later, I was programming machine codes into a video console in IBM-related facilities.

It was before an age of PCs, but there are still two things in common even today:
1) Computer codes are mostly written in English or a subset of English as a programming language.
2) A CPU, a core of a computers, is driven by machine-language codes, a translated result of programming codes, so as to activate its electronic circuits inside the chip.

Nowadays, Japanese-language-based programming methods have been developed and available. But, due to globalization, if a Japanese programmer writes his source codes using Japanese programming codes, they cannot be read and understood by his partners in America, China, or India.

Nonetheless, it was a big surprise, looking back from today, that so many Japanese computer programmers who could not speak English at all (though most of them graduated from a high school or a university) were writing codes in FORTRAN, COBOL, BASIC, LISP, C, and other English-based computer languages, including the machine language, in Japan since 1960's .

They were a great part of the driving force of the Japanese industry before the era of PCs and the Internet.

1990's were an era of a challenge for Japanese software developers, since PCs and the Internet allowed even ordinary Americans to write computer codes at home using plain English. American amateur investors into a Wall Street company could easily make a computer program to track his funds in the market while Japanese banks needed specialists to write quasi-English computer codes. An efficiency gap became desperately widened for Japan especially in the financial sector.

This is a true fact in the modern history no economists have ever argued.

(The lesson is that development of Japanese economy is highly linked with advantages and disadvantages of the Japanese language, which however does not necessarily mean that it is better to teach Japanese children English in elementary schools or kindergartens.)

SECTION III: U.S. IT Companies Have $100 Billion in Cash

The amount of money held by Microsoft, Intel, Cisco Systems, Google, IBM, HP, Yahoo, and other major IT enterprises in the form of cash or its qeuivalent is said to be in total more than $100 billions.

On the other hand, the aggregate market value of Goldman Sachs, the current champion on Wall Street, is just $57 billions.

That is why economists who do not know mentality of the IT industry cannot comprehend a true underlying trend in the financial sector, not only because Wall Street depends on computer software.

What is going to dominate over Wall Street will be a mind set that has grown up in the American IT industry, leading to different behaviors of players in the market of future.

"My Messenger before Thy Face"

(Around Tokyo...)

Unemployment vs. Economists

Economists misunderstand something important, since they cannot create wealth, cannot produce any advanced products, and above all cannot employ many workers.

You should not entrust a task of managing a huge amount of money to them, since economics itself is based on very ambiguous definitions regarding its mission.

Individual welfare and happiness, social order and settlement, and administration of the nation to avoid a civil war and chaos are still difficult questions for economists if they are rewarded with Nobel Prize.

But, you had better think that the basic mission of economics is to reduce an unemployment rate in a nation.

One important factor to be analyzed with unemployment rates is productivity or the labor productivity index, as everybody knows.

A change in productivity in the service sector is almost zero in major countries since the middle of 1990's.

A rate of increase in productivity in the manufacturing sector is almost steady and constant in major countries with the U.S. at the highest rate of 6.2% for 16 years between 1991 and 2006, the U.K. at 3.6%, France at 3.6%, and Japan at 3.2%.

Yet, an unemployment rate has widely fluctuated all through this period, indicating the demand side as more important than the supply side.

In other words, consumers are more important than businesses for national economy and economics. Yet, economists are useless to increase buying power of the people, though they might be able to give some advice to corporate management on investment, interest handling, or labor reduction effects.

Ultimately, if economists have no love to consumers, they will be enemies to the people. They will help greedy corporate management how to exploit workers, consumers, and citizens.

But, even if economists have any love to consumers, they will not be of great help to consumers, since definitions of economics are so vague.

Consequently, the unemployment issue is committed to politicians or lawmakers.

It is so, since economists will claim that their economics is proven to be right if economy is growing while 200 million Americans eat beefsteak everyday, and 100 million Americans cannot eat beefsteak any day due to unemployment.

Nonetheless, there is one important element that can largely explain the trend of unemployment as shown in the above figure: the effect of development of computation and telecommunications, namely PCs and the Internet.

Look at the trend of the unemployment rates of the U.S. and European nations and then you will see the effect of diffusion of PCs and the Internet since early 1990's for the U.S. and the U.K. and since the middle of 1990's for European countries (though the trend in Germany between 2002 and 2005 is exceptional).

On the other hand, Japan's unemployment rate has been increasing during the same period while PCs and the Internet were being introduced in the Japanese society at the similar pace with other major powers.

The difference cannot be explained by any economic theories and any economists. It is so, since it is related to the difference in culture and traditions between Japan and other major powers.

If introduction of PCs and the Internet has not drastically increased productivity in Western countries, it has activated people's life and boosted business chances in Europe and America.

But, in Japan, it has not so much activated people's life and boosted business chances as in Europe and America, due to the unique nature of its culture and society.

Indeed, Japan is a Buddhist country rather than a Christian country which the U.S., the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, and Canada are.

(That is why you cannot trust a Japanese economist who has never studied Christianity.)

Mr. Lawrence Summers and Mr. Robert Rubin

(Mt. Fuji last evening; click to enlarge.)

Mr. Lawrence Summers and Mr. Robert Rubin

The economy of today is still based on the following paradigm:

If a factory cannot produce products needed by consumers any more, it must go bankrupt and get closed, firing all the workers there.

But, another factory will surely rise, producing a new type of products consumers need and like to buy. This factory will surely employ those workers who were fired by the old factory.

This chain of generation changes of factories will continue endlessly, firing and employing workers reciprocally.

But, of course, you can easily find 10 potential problems in this paradigm.

Yet, GM was successful in coping with this paradigm with their own scheme to realize continuous production and induce uninterrupted needs from consumers. Accordingly, no socialist party and communist party have been needed in the U.S., since wasteful economy was promoted so exhaustively by GM and the like.

On the other hand, even around 1995, the Japanese Government was formed together by the conservative Liberal Democratic Party and the Japan Socialist Party in a tie up for coalition.

This simple fact tells that there is a significant difference between Japan and the U.S. in terms of social, cultural, and historical underlying conditions.

But, as Mr. Lawrence Summers and Mr. Robert Rubin could not understand this simple fact, they virtually called the Japanese people fools as Japan took a long time to fix its financial problems in late 1990's.

How can anybody in the world call the Japanese people, who have achieved the most successful development after WWII in terms of culture, science, technology, economy, and business, fools?

Indeed, Mr. Lawrence Summers and Mr. Robert Rubin could not foresee, predict, prevent, and understand the 2008 Financial Crisis that started on Wall Street.

Now you know whoever call the Japanese people fools are true fools.

(Are they truly respected in Isreal?)

I recommend Mr. Lawrence Summers and Mr. Robert Rubin to first study why no socialist party and communist party exist in the U.S. but they do exist in Japan (and then hopefully, about the existence of the communist/socialist party in China, India, and Russia).

And then, they have to start to work in a factory of GM, if they really want to understand what economy the God requests of mankind.

Anyway, Former President Mr. George W. Bush was clever not to respect those economists, but President Mr. Barack Obama had better find more God-fearing economists...

(Yes, I heard that a former high-ranking official in the Bush Administration said recently that the Obama Administration would pass Japan to go and shake hands with China...as the Clinton Administration did in late 1990's.)
