A Lesson in Iraq in 2004

In October 2004, a Japanese youth was killed in Iraq by AlQaeda associated terrorists.

Then Prime Minister of Japan Koizumi refused a request from the terrorists to withdraw Japanese Self-Defense troops stationed in southern Iraq for helping reconstruction of local communities, though the Japanese Government reportedly paid a ransom to rescue three Japanese, a journalist and peace activists, from captivity by anti-American terrorists in April 2004.

Shosei Koda (November 1979 – October 2004) was a Japanese citizen who was kidnapped and later beheaded in Iraq on 29 October 2004, by Zarqawi's group, while touring the country. He was the first Japanese person beheaded in Iraq.

Koda's parents were members of the United Church of Christ.[2]　For this reason, he had a cross tattoo on his arm.[3] The family was from Nogata, a small southern city in Japan.[4] His mother's occupation is a nurse.[4] Koda dropped out of high school in his junior year, then started to work as a house painter until 2002.

Koda left Amman on 20 October 2004.[4] He ignored advice not to travel to Iraq, and entered the country because he wanted to know what was happening there.

Koda's captors stated that they would "treat him like his predecessors Berg and Bigley"[7] (Bigley was murdered just weeks before by the organization, before being known as Al Qaeda in Iraq) if Japan did not withdraw its forces from Iraq within 48 hours. The Japanese government headed by Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi refused to comply with these demands, stating that they will not concede to terrorists.[8]

In the video sequence of Koda's murder, Koda sits on the American flag, his captors standing behind him. Koda's hands are tied behind his back. He is blindfolded while a captor reads a speech for two minutes and ten seconds. The captors then hold him down on the ground as they begin to decapitate him.

Koda's body was returned to Japan.[9] His death provoked mixed responses in Japan. While many Japanese citizens were angered and appalled by the murder, some blamed the victim and others criticized the Koizumi administration.

According to an author who wrote a book about Mr. Koda, he first flew from Japan to Christchurch, New Zealand, to learn English.  After going to an English school there for months, he traveled to Israel alone.  He was a backpacker, though it was his first wandering abroad.

Mr. Koda stayed in a cheap hotel in Tel Aviv.  While staying there, he often watched TV at a hall.  He asked many questions of a young manager of the hotel while watching political news.  The manager himself had been once a backpacker.  So, they could communicate well.  And, it seems that this episode was a key to understanding why Mr. Koda traveled to Baghdad.  

When Mr. Koda arrived at Israel, he didn't make an objection against an entry stump being put on his passport.  He did not intend to travel to Arab countries.  He planned to just spend a month or two in Israel, though he had not much money at all.

It was a year and a half after the US invasion of Iraq, and it was time when the situation in Iraq looked well controlled by US military power.  For reference, Saddam Hussein was arrested in December 2003 and held in a jail at the time.  There were other Japanese youths who entered Iraq in the period.  Mr. Koda was the only Japanese victim as a tourist in Iraq.

It is now believed that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, an AlQaeda linked terrorist leader in Iraq, was responsible for the murder of Mr. Koda.  However, Zarqawi was killed by a US air raid in June 2006.  And, since then, this tragic episode of Mr. Koda in Iraq seems to be gradually forgotten by the Japanese public. 

The lesson is that as ISIS has killed so many innocent civilians, including Americans, Englishmen, and a Frenchman, their leaders should be surely taken on like Zarqawi.

Let's briefly check the RFK Assassination.

The assassination of Robert Francis "Bobby" Kennedy, a United States Senator and brother of assassinated President John Fitzgerald "Jack" Kennedy, took place shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968, in Los Angeles, California, during the campaign season for the United States Presidential election, 1968.

There are reasons why RFK was assassinated by an organization or a group of bad guys but not by a single oddball named Sirhan.

Just as in the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., many people believe there was also a conspiracy involved in the murder of Robert Kennedy. For Robert Kennedy's assassination, there seem to be three main conspiracy theories that are based on inconsistencies found in the evidence against Sirhan Sirhan. 

The first conspiracy involves the location of the fatal shot. Los Angeles Coroner Thomas Noguchi conducted the autopsy on Robert Kennedy's body and discovered that not only had Kennedy died from the shot that entered just below and behind his right ear, but that there were scorch marks around the entry wound. This meant that the shot must have come from behind Kennedy and that the muzzle of the gun must have been within an inch or so of Kennedy's head when it was fired. By nearly all accounts, Sirhan had been in front of Kennedy and had never gotten closer than several feet. Could there have been a second shooter?

Of course, it is natural to think that the assassination of RFK was linked with that of JFK.  If Robert Kennedy should become US President, he would have most probably pursue the truth of the JFK Assassination to revenge himself for the murder of his elder brother.

Who had a motive?

Who hated Bobby Kennedy enough to have him murdered? RFK began to accrue enemies during his brother's presidency (when he served as attorney general). Both Kennedys angered some of the most powerful individuals or groups in America, including:

* the Mafia, who'd been the victim of the administration's unprecedented crackdown on organized crime (RFK had actually deported New Orleans Mafia boss Carlos Marcello)

* FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, who'd been forced by the attorney general to go after the Mafia (Hoover had denied for years that organized crime existed and preferred to concentrate on eliminating "communists")

* elements of the CIA, who'd participated in the 1961 attempt to overthrow Fidel Castro at the Bay of Pigs (the Kennedy brothers who felt they'd been misled by the CIA about the strength of Castro's forces refused to send air support when the invaders met powerful resistance; afterwards, JFK fired CIA director Allen Dulles, and Bobby Kennedy took on a role in CIA policy that was anathema to some of the most swashbuckling CIA veterans)

The old animosities only increased when RFK announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination. Both his old enemies and several new ones had a lot to lose from an RFK presidency. That list included:

* ex-Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa, whom RFK, as attorney general, had sent to prison for jury tampering (if RFK became president, Hoffa would have had to serve his entire thirteen year sentence, but President Nixon pardoned him)

* right-wing and racist groups, like the Ku Klux Klan, who feared RFK's strong commitment to civil rights

* Southern California ranchers who feared Kennedy's support of César Chavez and the United Farm Workers Union-and who, according to an FBI report, had once put out a $500,000 contract on RFK's life (if the union leaders succeeded in organizing thousands of farm workers, the ranchers' profits and power would plummet)

* hard-line cold warriors in the military and intelligence community-even the defense industry-who saw that an RFK presidency would create a complete reversal of US policy in Vietnam

With enemies like these, the pat explanation that Sirhan Sirhan assassinated RFK for his support of Israel seems far less persuasive-especially since RFK's Middle East stance differed very little from the other candidates'. The individuals or groups mentioned above had much more powerful reasons to keep RFK from becoming president in 1968.

One thing sure is that Oswald and Ruby were no more behind the RFK Assassination.  But Marcello lived till 1993, 30 years after the death of JFK.

Carlos Marcello, the don of New Orleans had a fierce grievance against RFK. He was high on the list of Mafia bosses targeted by Kennedy in 1961, up there with Giancana and other 'Top Hoodlums'. During the first months of the Kennedy administration, Marcello had been deported from the United States, essentially kidnapped and left in the jungles of Guatamala. The mobster made his way back to the United States and hired a better lawyer, but he believed that the attorney general had been out to persecute him. He had reputedly vowed to get even. ('Don't worry about that little Bobby son of a bitch, he's going to get taken care of.') One night during the summer of '67, RFK, in a rare moment of disclosure, told Richard Goodwin that he thought his brother had been killed by 'the guy from New Orleans' meaning Marcello. His suspicions may have been fed by something told to him by Walter Sheridan, who had spent months looking into Marcello and his connections while working on the Garrison story. Sheridan, who, according to his wife, contemplated suicide when his hero RFK was killed in 1968, refused to talk abut JFK's assassination until just before he died in 1996. Then he shocked his son, Walter Jr., by stating that he was 'convinced' that President Kennedy had been killed by a conspiracy. Joseph Kennedy II, RFK's oldest son, had a similar experience. In the last year of his life, RFK told his son that the full truth about the Kennedy assassination would never be known. Young Kennedy had the impression that his father knew something others did not, though exactly what remained a mystery...

After Kennedy's announcement--'I do not run for the presidency merely to oppose any man, but to propose new policies...'--he flew to New York to march in the St Patrick's Day Parade. Beforehand, he went to see Jacqueline Kennedy...On this cloudy March day, Jackie Kennedy smiled and gently kissed RFK and wished him on his way. A few days later, she took Arthur Schlesinger aside at a dinner party. 'Do you know what I think will happen to Bobby?' she said. 'The same thing that happened to Jack . . . There is so much hatred in this country, and more people hate Bobby than hated Jack . . . I've told Bobby this, but he isn't fatalistic, like me.' She knew perfectly well that her brother-in-law was fatalistic. Down on Fifth Avenue, on the St. Patrick's Day Parade route, Kennedy's old spokesman, Ed Guthman, quietly summoned Peter Maas, the writer, and a couple of other journalists friendly to Kennedy, to walk along close by RFK as he waved to the crowd. Maas realized that the newsmen had been formed into a kind of human shield. Dozens of stories have been written recently commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Watergate break-in. The journalistic heroes of the story, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, published a lengthy piece in the Washington Post detailing Nixon’s war on the Constitution, on the press, on democracy.
But the most tantalizing aspect of Watergate has been ignored: The possibility that Nixon worried that the investigation could reveal the truth behind the JFK assassination.

The bungled break-in at the Democratic National Committee office, at the Watergate hotel complex, occurred on June 17, 1972. Less than a week later, on June 23, Nixon engaged in an intense conversation with one of his top aides, H.R. Haldeman.
A transcript of the conversation shows the two talking about how to contain the investigation. 

Nixon refers to the Bay of Pigs 

At one point, Nixon says, “When you get these people, when you get these people in, say, ‘Look, the problem is that this will open the whole Bay of Pigs thing  …”
At another point in the same conversation, Nixon says, “this is a Hunt, you will – that will uncover a lot of things. You open that scab and there’s a hell of a lot of things that we just feel that it would be very detrimental to have this going further.”
Hunt was E. Howard Hunt, a longtime CIA operative and one of the Watergate burglars. 

In his memoir, Haldeman wrote that he believed “Bay of Pigs” was Nixon’s coded way of referring to the JFK assassination. 

Bay of Pigs – the botched invasion by CIA-trained Cuban exiles – occurred on April 17, 1961, during JFK’s first few months in office. It was a plan JFK had inherited from the Eisenhower administration. 

An initial U.S. air strike was ineffectual, and failed to knock out Cuba’s Air Force. JFK refused to call in a second air attack. The invaders were crushed. About 100 were killed by Cuban forces, and more than 1,200 were captured. 

The aftermath was toxic. Military hawks were enraged at the president for not calling in more air support. JFK was livid at the CIA, which he vowed to “splinter into a thousand pieces.”  Hatred is too polite a word for what anti-Castro Cubans felt toward JFK.

Nixon was not in office when the Bay of Pigs played out. Why would he refer to it when talking about the Watergate break-in?

- In 2007, Rolling Stone reported on the deathbed confession of Hunt, who died in January of that year. In a series of tape recorded talks with his son, St. John Hunt (known as “Saint”), the dying spy named about a half-dozen CIA operatives. He minimized his own involvement, and suggested Lyndon B. Johnson spearheaded the cover-up.
- In 2009, a book revealed that Carlos Marcello, the Mafia kingpin of Texas and Louisiana, declared following the assassination, “Yeah, I had the son of a bitch killed. I’m glad I did. I’m sorry I couldn’t have done it myself!” The admission was contained in FBI files and was contained in a book, “Legacy of Secrecy,” by Lamar Waldron.

Based on the evidence, it is likely that JFK was killed by a coalition of anti-Castro Cubans, the Mob, and elements of the CIA.

Nixon may well have feared that the Watergate scandal could have led to the truth about the JFK assassination.

The most bizarre aspect of Richard Nixon in the context of the JFK Assassination is his stay in Dallas and departure from the Dallas Love Field Airport a few hours before the arrival of JFK there on November 22.

The beaten politician subsequently joined the New York law firm of Nixon, Mudge, Rose, Guthrie & Alexander, located in Manhattan. His clients from Pepsi-Cola invited him to a reception in Dallas, on the eve before what would become JFK’s fatal motorcade. After attending the party, the next day Nixon boarded a plane at Love Field Airport in Dallas, around the same time Kennedy was landing in Air Force One. Nixon flew home to New York, to Idlewild Airport in Queens. The airport would later be renamed JFK in Kennedy’s honor. 

Nixon remarked that he learned of the president’s death while riding home in a cab from Idlewild Airport.

While Nixon was President, he mentioned something decisive: the Oswald Plan:

In the summer of 1973, the president publicly raised the assassination issue to divert attention from recent disclosures of a widespread government wiretapping operation. He claimed that Robert Kennedy, as attorney general, had authorized a larger number of wiretaps than his own administration. "But I don't criticize it," he declared, adding, "if he had ten more and — as a result of wiretaps — had been able to discover the Oswald Plan, it would have been worth it." 

Whoops! The president apparently didn't realize his reference to "the Oswald Plan" didn't square with the government's official lone-killer finding. For if Lee Harvey Oswald had been solely responsible for the assassination, then there would not have been anyone for Oswald to conspire with about his "plan" — on a bugged telephone, or otherwise.

For confirmation of the incident, let's check some relevant time sequence:

Nov. 1961: Kennedy fires Nixon buddy Allen Dulles as CIA chief. 

Nov. 1962: Nixon is defeated for governor of California after a secret $205,000 "loan" from Mob-linked billionaire Howard Hughes to Nixon's brother becomes a major issue; Nixon soon moves to New York and becomes a corporate lawyer. 

1962-63: Angered by CIA incompetence during the Bay of Pigs, Kennedy moves to limit the agency's power. 

Summer of 1963: Lee Harvey Oswald and the CIA- and Mob-linked David Ferrie are seen together in Clinton, La., the House assassinations committee later learns in testimony from numerous witnesses. 

July 23, 1963: Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa tells his lawyer, Frank Ragano, "Something has to be done. The time has come for your friend (Santos Trafficante) and Carlos (Marcello) to get rid of him, kill that son-of-a-bitch John Kennedy." 

Nov. 8: Oswald allegedly writes a note to a "Mr. Hunt" asking for "information." 

Nov. 21: CIA agent Hunt is spotted in Dallas at the same CIA "safe house" also visited that day by Jack Ruby and Frank Sturgis, according to testimony in a 1985 court case. 

Nov. 21: Ostensibly in Dallas to attend a Pepsi Cola convention, Nixon asks the city to give President Kennedy a respectful welcome. 

Nov. 21: Chicago Mob boss Sam Giancana meets with Nixon in Dallas to discuss the planned Kennedy assassination, Giancana later tells relatives. 

Nov. 22: Nixon leaves Dallas, apparently before Kennedy's arrival. 

Nov. 22: President Kennedy is murdered in Dallas. 

Nov. 24: Ruby kills Oswald in the basement of the Dallas police jail. 

1963: Nixon recommends Congressman Gerald Ford for the Warren Commission. 

1964: Nixon lies to the FBI about being in Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963.

So, Richard Nixon had to resign before the completion of the second term of his presidency.  Nonetheless, he might not be the principal perpetrator.

The End of the Material Universe

This universe is expanding with the expansion speed being accelerated.

The accelerating universe is the observation that the universe appears to be expanding at an increasing rate. In formal terms, this means that the cosmic scale factor a(t) has a positive second derivative,[1] so that the velocity at which a distant galaxy is receding from us should be continuously increasing with time.

This universe will continue to expand to the infinite size at a rate close to light.  Every material in it, including a proton, will be disintegrated to become only quarks, electrons, and other particles without internal structure.

However, when the size of this universe becomes almost infinite, the density of mass or material energy will become almost zero.   It means that when almost infinite time has passed there would be almost no physical entity in any finite cubic volume in the universe.  

But the structure of space and time of the universe was built with material energy and substances in it.  The framework of the universe, time and space, has been balanced existence of material energy and substances.  So, if the universe has lost this balance due to its expansion to an infinite size, this framework itself must lose stability, though it is dynamically getting larger and larger.  Then what would happen to this universe running almost out of control?

One image is that it will be tore up into uncountable parts.  And each of these parts will be also split into zillions of parts, repeatedly.  Finally, every part would become almost zero in the size.  Eventually, they will return to naught or to the state before the emergence of this universe from the sheer vacuum.

Another image is that the whole university in the size of the almost infinite would suddenly disappear as a whole.   In an accelerated velocity to the light speed, the whole universe would get across a boundary beyond which no system of time and space linked with material energy can exist.  So, as a system of time and space, the universe would be lost suddenly without any impact on anything.  Even in this case it returns to the sheer vacuum.

In either case, the universe is growing, at an accelerating rate, toward the infinite size only to become nil.

But why is this universe expanding toward the infinite?

To grasp an image of the underlying law, we have to refer to an inverse-square law that governs almost every physical phenomenon in this universe.

In physics, an inverse-square law is any physical law stating that a specified physical quantity or intensity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source of that physical quantity. In equation form: 

Intensity = 1/(distance)^2 

The divergence of a vector field which is the resultant of radial inverse-square law fields with respect to one or more sources is everywhere proportional to the strength of the local sources, and hence zero outside sources. Newton's law of universal gravitation follows an inverse-square law, as do the effects of electric, magnetic, light, sound, and radiation phenomena. 

The lines represent the flux emanating from the source. The total number of flux lines depends on the strength of the source and is constant with increasing distance. A greater density of flux lines (lines per unit area) means a stronger field. The density of flux lines is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source because the surface area of a sphere increases with the square of the radius. If the speed of the expansion of the universe is proportional to a reciprocal factor of some intensity that is expressed with (distance)^2, the more the universe gets larger, the faster it expands.

Probably there is an interface between our material universe and the outer vacuum at any moment.  When the size of the universe becomes twice larger, its energy intensity gets twice smaller.  It means that the universe gets diluted twice.  It also means that the universe is closer to vacuum, resulting in easier invasion to the vacuum outside the universe.  Conversely, when the energy intensity of the universe is large, it cannot penetrate into the vacuum or expand to the vacuum easily, since the properties of the two worlds are so different.

In other words, the more this universe becomes akin to the vacuum, the more the universe can advance to the vacuum.  The vacuum, unlike its image, must show stronger resistance against material energy, while it does not stand strongly against weak material energy.

It might have some analogy to the situation that an iceberg cannot well expand in the sea, but when it is melted or broken to uncountable pieces of small ice, they can well penetrate into the sea as far as possible till each ice piece becomes finally water.

If this theory is correct, we were truly born from the vacuum and are expanding and advancing to become vacuum again.  

But what is outside the vacuum that is outside our universe?  Probably a design of God.
